The Purpose of
CARM is to:
in the Spirit of the Deacons of the early Church (Acts 6) make
available to Ministers, Evangelists and Missionaries effective tools for
carrying out the mission of the church to both members of Christ’s body and to
those previously unreached by the Gospel. CARM’s
personnel will strive to take on the responsibility of meeting the logistical
and technical needs of this mission in order to allow the Ministers, Evangelists
and Missionaries to give their attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.
Specifically
the plan of CARM is to establish a “beachhead of evangelism” through the use
of multiple radio stations in Northern Luzon.
This “introduction” of the Gospel will be followed up with personal
contact through Evangelistic Teams, Missionaries, & Ministers using the
aircraft to enable access into remote regions now considered unreachable.
In holding with our purpose the Missionaries of CARM are also helping
with projects such as maintaining vehicles being used by missionaries and
ministers in our region of the Philippines.
We have also helped install and maintain a computer system in Aparri
Christian Hospital. CARM personnel also headed up installation of a phone system for Aparri
Christian Hospital.
A
Brief History of CARM:
Christian Aviation & Radio Mission was established in the Philippines under the auspices of Philippine Mission Churches of Christ of Northern Luzon in 1995. March 1999 brought the first of the Filipino recordings from the CARM recording studio. The first recordings were broadcast in two languages, Itawes and Ibanag, which were aired on two Tuguegarao, Cagayan radio stations. In cooperation with STEP, Scripture Translation for Every People, and PMCC, Philippine Mission Churches of Christ, by the fall of 2000 the broadcasts had expanded to 4 languages airing on 4 programs over 4 radio stations in 3 cities of the Cagayan Valley of Northern Luzon. In the works, Lord willing, is a possible project in cooperation with a Wycliffe Bible Translation team to the central mountains, expansion of the current broadcasts to a more powerful station, beaming programs to the eastern coast of Northern Luzon, and programs recorded for two low power stations on the northern coast in Aparri and Gonzaga. While
the aircraft rebuilding project was started in the partially completed aircraft
hangar in 1998 work had to be halted when it came time for the assembly of major
components. With the hangar only
partially completed there was not enough room to do the major assembly. In June, 2000 with the help of a work crew from Michigan, the wings were
installed to the aircraft.
Currently, corrosion proofing, assembly and rigging have
been the primary projects underway on the aircraft. Not Only is CARM involved in only Ministries through Aviation & Broadcasting but, like the Deacons of the early church each of our personnel are ministering in various other ways as God has given them talents. Whether it be witnessing, preaching, teaching, encouraging, or even helping with a building project our goal is to take the Gospel to those who have not heard.
